Ringers Rising
The Ringers Rising course is a two-day, hands-on introduction to the skills, values, and mindset needed for life on a cattle station. Designed for young people ready to challenge themselves, this program goes beyond the basics, combining practical skills with teamwork, resilience, and the outback spirit.
Whether you’re considering a future in agriculture or simply want to push yourself outside your comfort zone, Ringers Rising is about discovering strength, independence, and pride in what you can achieve.
What You’ll Learn
Over two action-packed days, participants will:
Carry out a vehicle pre-start check and learn how to prepare for long days in the bush.
Jack up and change a tyre safely and confidently.
Learn fencing basics – driving pickets, tying knots, straining wire, and using tools.
Try horse shoe shaping and discover the blacksmith’s craft.
Operate a firefighter pump and learn how it’s used on station.
Siphon water, rope a cow, and practise communication in real-life scenarios.
Finish with some fun — cracking a stockwhip and celebrating achievements together.
Every activity is taught step by step, with demonstrations, guidance, and plenty of time to practise.
The Real Impact
This course is about more than just learning practical skills. It’s about building confidence to try new things, even when they feel uncomfortable.
Participants develop a growth mindset, learning that resilience is built when we step outside our comfort zone. They also experience the power of teamwork, understanding the importance of looking out for one another and working together to get the job done.
Above all, they leave with pride in their effort, persistence, and the courage to have a go — lessons that stay with them long after the course is over.
