Women’s Practical Skills Program
Practical skills aren’t just about fixing problems — they’re about building independence, resilience, and the courage to back yourself in any situation.
The Women’s Practical Skills Program is designed to give women the tools, knowledge, and confidence to handle everyday challenges, from car maintenance to using basic power tools. In a supportive and encouraging environment, you’ll learn step by step, ask questions freely, and discover just how capable you really are.
What You’ll Learn
Over the course of the workshop, participants will cover:
Car maintenance and safety checks – checking fluids, tyres, lights, and batteries, plus how to jump-start safely.
Changing a tyre – jacking up a car, replacing the wheel, and staying safe on the roadside.
Basic hand and power tools – from hammers and screwdrivers to drills and circular saws, learning how to use them safely and confidently.
Safety first – the importance of PPE, awareness, and preparation in every task.
And, to finish with some fun – a go at cracking a stockwhip!
This program isn’t about being perfect. It’s about giving things a go, making mistakes, learning, and building the courage to try again.
Why It Matters
For many women, skills like changing a tyre or using a power drill can feel intimidating simply because they’ve never been shown how.
This program creates the space to learn without judgement. You’ll walk away not just with practical abilities, but with confidence, independence, and the knowledge that you can do it.
